Shattered Dreams & Oldies

I will give NJ this one thing...I miss fall back on the east coast.  Don't get me wrong...fall is still my favorite season.  But, I miss the apple picking and pumpkin picking, the tons of leaves in various colors crackling under foot.

So, I thought I finally found a couple of places here to recreate the falls I loved.  For starters I found a place to go apple picking.  It opened last weekend and is only open through October.  Last weekend I didn't think they were going to have much variety available yet, so I figured we would wait a week or two to go.  I emailed over the week to see if the kind I particularly wanted would be ready this weekend, and if not what they had ready.  I received an email saying they were booked for the season (you need reservations to go to this place.  Who ever heard of that?  But, whatever.)  And the kind I particularly wanted was already spoken for.  Should I make my reservations for next year now??!

We do go pumpkin picking every year still.  It is just different.  Very commercialized.  You pay to get in.  There are rides and booths of food.  You walk to the field (no hayride) where the pumpkins are already picked and pay for your pumpkin.  So, this year I was on a quest to find the perfect little farm to do it how we always did it.  I thought I found it.  Turns out is in Boulder.  Yep, the same town where wildfires have been burning for how many days now?  Wonder if my little find will still be open for business.

  1. I agree with you! We can go apple picking, but there is a short period of time you can go and the one time we went it was so hot it didn't feel right! I miss fall the most about NJ! Decorating for fall in 90 degree weather is just not the same!
